At ‘Someone I Love is in Defence’, I understand the unique needs when it comes to providing engaging and educational content for Defence children. My colouring, activity and storybooks have been thoughtfully crafted to cater to your families’ distinctive circumstances. In this Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section, I aim to address the most common inquiries you may have about the series of resources available.

Who are your products designed for?
- The collection is specifically designed for Australian Defence Children.
What makes your books unique?
- The ‘Someone I Love is in Defence’ series of books is unique as the images represent the Australian Army, Navy and Air Force. There are resources available in other countries, but often they have different spelling (Mum/Mom) and graphics that are not relevant to Australian kids (different flags, etc.)
How can I purchase your books?
- The books can be purchased online at www.someoneiloveisindefence.com.au and will be available soon from selected Australian Military Bank branches.
- I am working hard to get them into more locations to make them easier for Australian Defence Families to purchase.
What age groups are your books suitable for?
- At present, the series is for children aged betweed 4-8 years. However, I have more resources in the pipeline for older children. Every child deserves to have resources to educate and make them feel connected to their loved one who is serving, so I will try my best to extend the range as soon as possible.
Are your books educational?
- The books have educational fun facts and activities such as tracing lines, counting vehicles, and matching objects. They also have activities that are aimed at supporting Defence children through emotions. So there are a lot of activities allowing the child to express their feelings, as well as fun activities such as word searches, dot-to-dots and mazes.
Do you offer any discounts or promotions?
- Discounts are offered on book sets. At times throughout the year, I may advertise the books on sale.

Can I purchase your books as gifts?
- Absolutely! All posted books come wrapped in tissue paper, perfect for a gift. If your purchase is a gift, please feel free to leave a note when checking out or send me an email, as I can also add a handwritten letter to the recipient.
What payment methods do you accept?
- Payment methods include Stripe, PayPal and Debit/Credit Cards. Buy now, pay later options also include Afterpay and Klarna.
What is your shipping policy?
- All orders will be posted within three days unless the items ordered are ‘available for preorder’, in which they will be posted as soon as they arrive.
- Shipping is calculated at the checkout, most orders are $10.
Thanks to a collaboration with the Australian Military Bank, you can now conveniently collect your order from an Australian military branch near you. Select your preferred branch during checkout, and present your receipt upon collection.
For the best experience, I recommend processing your order directly at the branch to ensure the availability of the books you’re interested in.
What is your return and exchange policy?
- If, for any reason, your order arrives damaged or missing something, please reach out to me so I can correct it. My best contact is via email- bianca@someoneiloveisindefence.com.au
Are your books suitable for schools or organisations?
- The storybooks are suitable for schools as they teach children about what it is like to have a loved one in the military. The colouring books would also be an excellent gift for any child interested in the Australian Defence Force. However, the activity books are specifically designed for Australian Defence children as they focus on emotions when children are faced with relocations, making new friends and getting ready for a parent’s deployment.

Do you have a newsletter or mailing list?
- I do have a newsletter mailing list. However, it is only used to let customers know about new products that may interest them.

Please note that I also work as a Defence School Mentor, have a husband who is often at sea and three young children at home. Sometimes, it can take me a few hours to reply.
Do you support any charitable causes?
- Yes, I do. A portion of my sales go back into Defence and Veteran organisations.
